Working life

30 april 2018 - Monbulk, Australië

So I'm still in Monbulk, in the shared house with 8 people now. The wounds on my leg got pretty bad at some point though. I was having more difficulty working and took more days sick off, which is pretty boring if everybody is working and you can't walk much or ride the bike. Luckily I could borrow a girls laptop here so I could entertain myself with making watching some movies.

But my leg wasn't getting better and I got worried. So much so that I decided to see a doctor which prescribed some antibiotics. That worked really well, but I still needed it for 10 days.

Luckily after a few days I was able to work again though, so at least I was making some money again instead of just spending it on doctors appointments and, oh yeah; clumsy actions where you wreck someone's laptop by spilling milk over it. Yeah that was painful to tell but we did figure something out, but it was a expensive mistake to make...

Oh well. The house was great! We had lots of fun together; making jokes, teasing each other, cooking together and party in the weekends (okay, maybe not only the weekends...) We enjoyed ourselves by scaring each other, making up weird games, blanket forts and slip and slides inside the house. (I already miss Anthony and Josh, crazy bastards! xD)

In between there was work, which I really enjoyed as well. Working from 7:00 till 17:00 5 days a week outside in the sun. Doing all kinds of jobs in between the trees, but mainly carrying them around. It is a physical job, but that gives a nice satisfying feeling at the end of the day; more than office work ever did for me.

My colleagues are also really nice and I'm definitely going to miss the place. Yeah miss it cause tomorrow is my last day. Then it's a few more days of Melbourne and then ride my bike to Mount Kosciuszko, blue mountains, Canberra to Sydney. That's the route I got advised to take last week.

On a national holiday I went out for a ride in the area, because there are a lot of hills, so a lot of windy roads. Simply awesome with the bike! After taking some gas a few older bikers stopped in the same direction and one had the same bike as me and started talking. After some small talk they invited me to ride along.

We took a great mountain road with awesome bends. We went to the top where there was a lookout tower. Too bad I don't remember the name of the mountain. After we went to Warburton for a coffee. They advised me to take mount Kosciuszko and stay near the mountains to have the best driving experience. And if the local riders that have been riding for over 30 years tell me that, who am I to doubt them.

This went by really fast though, probably because of the work, but it was good. I made some money, had a lot of fun and will definitely look back on this chapter with pleasure.  But I'm already getting eager for the next chapter.
