Finally VROOM VROOM!

7 maart 2018 - Melbourne, Australië

Well the bike thing went exactly as planned, NOT! On the saturday my mate still didn't have his money (it's wednesday now and he still doesn't have it... I feel for him!) so that saturday we went to the bike shop with the plan to drive away that day. After some haggling we made a deal. I lowered the price by $200 and got a new helmet, lock, rain motor jacket, cold weather gloves and 2 tailbags + rack. In short; everything I need to get going!

Great I can't wait to ride this baby. And then I tried to transfer the money. Guess what; In Australia banks don't do transfers on weekends... So I had to walk home and come back monday... $%!@

But oh well it ain't all bad, I knew my deal and I knew monday I would get my bike. After making it a nice weekend I came to the shop and that morning I called the bank and they couldn't assure me that the money would come in instantly into their account. So to not take any more chances of delays I went to the bank and got the money out in cash! WOW, I've never held that much bills in my life!

And I was off. The lock and helmet would come in tuesday, but I could borrow a helmet, so I went driving for hours. Amazing! The first 5 minutes took some getting used to again and then I remembered why it was worth all the hassle, money and mainly impatience.

It's now Wednesday and a lot of people that I know have to move out the hostel because of high season (Grand Prix) and fumigation. I already planned on leaving with the bike so I'm a lucky bastard again. Also because when I came to pick up the helmet and lock yesterday I asked for a maintenance schedule. The boss didn't have it but offered me a free air filter cleaning and oil change. This morning he seemed to regret that offer, but "a man a man, a word a word" we would say in dutch.

I'm staying now at another hostel with a girl I met here and just having a nice relaxing day before taking of to my trip towards the festival. Driving with quite some stuff and a girl on the back in traffic hour was a bit stressful, but everything went fine. Time to get some more driving experience, but I honestly can't wait leaving Melbourne with the bike and driving some more remote country roads!
