Hobo on a motorbike

18 juli 2018 - Gordonvale, Australië

So I went with my Belgium friend to Port Douglas. We just relaxed there a lot, dumpstered some food to eat and ended on the beach with a camp fire and a sleep. Easy and very relaxing life. I kinda needed it at that moment, but after 3 days of just chilling out in a place that is filled with resorts and looks like a post card I had enough of doing nothing (for free) and made my way back to my free campsite just south of Cairns.

I finished up my white card, which was quite annoying since after doing all the questions and transferring the money I had to get all the equipment to show how to put it on on a video... A very friendly guy at the campsite got most of it for me together. He first gave me some protective glasses that he had found somewhere and the next day he came to me with a reflective jacket. Really lovely guy with a very supportive open minded spirit. I really needed it at that moment.

During this time I was still dumpstering my food together, which actually went pretty well. I camped near a few German guys that came down from Darwin and met a nice girl there as well. We had some good nights, usually making a campfire and drinking goon (the cheap carton box wine). In the meantime I tried to find a job in construction, but no luck.

At some point me and Phil, one of the german guys, where fishing when a Australian guy in a 4WD came up. He started chatting to us and gave us some beers. This ended up in a small party next to the river where some more people joined up for. We continued this crazy ritual through the night and even went into Cairns. And here I lost my phone... Yeah good timing huh, living off of $100 the last 2 weeks with only another $100 left and then I lose my phone...

Oh well I got a new number now, luckily a nice Italien backpacker gave me a spare phone way back in Melbourne, so I only needed a sim card. I'll install Whatsapp today so you can message me on +61 487 990 228 (if I'm correct on the international conversion.

And for the job stuff; I just started to worry about it and realized I shouldn't make such a deal about it and just get any job, so I applied to domino's again. I missed their call yesterday, which was a good thing because I also got a Farm job offering yesterday through the German friends. So I'll be picking Limes about an hour south of here at the end of this week. Making money and collecting my 88 days. Finally!

So things should start to look up soon after a bit of survival mode. I still had a good time though, but I can't wait to be productive again and save up some money. It's also really good that it will count for my 88 days, cause I don't have that much of a time buffer left.
